How to decorate your child’s room in the right way?

Decorating a child’s room can be a bit tricky than doing up an adults room. You will have think about the safety of the child. The comfort and wellbeing of the child becomes your prime importance. There must be a balance in the decoration without being too less or too much. So, when you decide to redo your kid’s room, you must think from the child’s perspective to understand and give what the child really needs.

Here are a few tips for your child’s room décor plan –

  • Always remember that your child will grow every year. So, their likes and dislikes are also going to change as they grow. You cannot do something to the room that they will not like after two years. At least, do not spend too much on things that may be have to replace in just a couple of years. Always think of recycling and reusing stuff so that it costs you less and you will not feel bad when time comes to throw it away.
  • When you are adding furniture into the rooms of your children, make sure to keep it minimalistic. A bed, a study table and closets are all that your child will need. Dressers and other seating furniture can be included only if the room is large and there is sufficient space for it. You can buy large Activity Tables & Chair sets.
  • The use of colours like white, peach, blue and pink is recommended because they are the basic colours and your kids will not mind having these colours on their walls and furniture even as they grow. If you play with colours and include orange, green or red chances are that your child will want it changed in a few years. So, go for the basic colours. If you want to include colours do that on cushions, bed spreads, mats and curtains. These of course can be changed without any problem.
  • The dull and boring walls can be made exciting by adding photo frames, maps, time tables, charts and other interesting frames. You can also set up a board at one corner where your kids can enjoy writing, drawing and painting.
  • Will choosing bed linen, you can experiment without doubt. Add bright colored bed sheets, pillow covers and cushions. Do not forget to place lots of cushions in the room. It is going to make your child comfortable and the room interesting.
  • The lighting in the room must be bright as your child is always up to something whether reading or writing. Apart from the regular lights, also add fairy lights, night lights and bed lights that bring life to the room during the night.
  • The toys can be arranged on one corner of the room or on the bunk bed or on the height adjustable study table.

Your children will spend most of their time in their room studying, sleeping, reading, playing and sometimes even eating there. So, you must decorate the place to suit all their activities and also leave some space for them to move around freely.
